“I feel free and not pressurized and I earn my living just like “normal” people do. My objective in life is to work, grow, build a family and have lots of children. Despite my disability, I feel that I am making a contribution to society”.

Oujesh Malgum

Oujesh Malgum is deaf and dumb and lives in the village of Bel Air. He has been working with Craft Aid since 1998. Having started packing sugar, he now picks fresh flowers and sorts dried flowers for another department.
Oujesh Malgum is happy not only because he has found decent working conditions at Craft Aid but also because he has made many friends who have the same disability, so they understand each other .

Craft Aid

Craft Aid was founded in 1982. Initially, it employed a small workforce making cards from pressed flowers. Its activity expanded rapidly and it now has four working departments : Textiles, Sugar, Pressed Flowers and Screen Printing.
Craft Aid currently employs 155 people, of whom some 40% are disabled. Craft Aid became a member of IFAT in 2000. In addition to providing the disabled with paid employment, its objective is to improve their standard of living and integrate them into society. Craft Aid is also committed to employing high numbers of women and therefore reducing the social inequality between men and women.
Finally, one of its major objectives is to manufacture environmentally friendly goods.

Ideo

Ideo is a member of "la plateforme pour le commerce équitable" (The French Fair Trade Organization) and they have been working for years in order to develop a fair trade with producers and also to promote materials which are eco-friendly such as the organic cotton.
Ideo works mainly with small producers located in developping areas in Asia and South America.
Ideo is committed to pay a fair price to producers, they will prepay at least 50% of products before delivery to avoid producers getting into debt and they also put in place actions in order to support local communities (support to schools for instance).
